ABOUT US

Confined is a Canadian alternative rock band, originally from the Montreal region in the province of Quebec, formed in 2017 by singer-guitarist Éric Gladu and lead guitarist Alexandre Phaneuf (Couch). Bassist Maxime Murphy joined the band in 2019 and the group stabilized after the arrival of Mathieu David in 2020.

The quartet was banned from accessing their rehearsal space after only 2 meetings, just before the announcement of a global pandemic. The band had to use their imagination to continue their evolution, which led to the choice of the band’s name: Confined.

With 9 studio songs, the compositions of Confined offer tracks inspired by the 1990s and more aggressive riffs influenced by bands like Metallica, Nirvana, The Offspring, Green Day, and even solos reminiscent of Mike McCready from Pearl Jam and Slash from Gun’s n Roses. The lyrics are inspired by various themes, sometimes personal to Éric Gladu.

The band members then composed their songs separately to complete tracks. Confined subsequently recorded their first songs in the form of a demo (12 tracks) during these tough times over the internet with Jean-François Gravel. He would pass away from cancer before the final recording ended in 2021.

During the year 2022, the band recorded 3 studio songs (Smoke Dynamite, And Now, Reach the Stars) with Alain Londero. In 2023, they will repeat the experience with 3 other studio songs (Still Alive, Donkey, The Man) and another 3 in 2024 (Body Surfin, Bring Back the 90’s, and Torpedo)

It was not until 2022 that the four musicians offered their first show in the form of a party in the basement of Couch’s house, after only a few practices together. The number of spectators is limited to 7 due to pandemic restrictions.

The first official show will take place at the Monte Cristo bar in Ste-Thérèse (Quebec) on June 11, 2022.
